We are thrilled to annouce that Kristin Nicholas -- well known knitwear designer and author of Kristin Knits and Color by Kristin -- will be offering two workshops at the store on Saturday April 28. In the morning she'll be teaching fast and easy techniques for embellishing your knitting and in the afternoon she'll be tackling that oh-so-taboo subject of steeks! You can sign up for both classes, with a catered lunch, one class, or just lunch. Get all the information here, but don't take too long decide, space is very limited!

We know why this lamb is so happy...Lamb's Pride -- worsted and bulky -- is back in stock and even in a few fun new colors. And the sister yarn, the lovely Burly Spun, is also back in stock. So if you're looking for the perfect yarn for knitting, felting, crocheting or weaving, we have it. And we're happy about it!

Hannah Fettig of Coastal Knits here on Saturday!

Please join us on Saturday January 7 from 2-4PM as we host Hannah Fettig, co-author of the new (and luscious) Coastal Knits. She'll sign books, show off many of the lovely designs -- we have the trunk show in the store right now -- and talk about what it was like to do bi-coastal design work. You may know Ms. Fettig from her blog, knitbot, and once you see the designs, wow...you'll be in love. We are! So grab a friend or two and come join us for a fun afternoon.

For Newburyport's Second Invitation Night, we'll be hosting some of our favorite people, who also happen to be artists and our teachers. Handweaver Margaret Russell, fiber artist Kim Sheehan and our own Cheryl Kubat will be at the store from 6-9pm with wonderful items for sale. A few weeks ago, we looked at the calendar and realized it was time. You know, *that* time. So we decided to make things easy on everyone and pull our favorite fast and fun projects together in one place. But if you don't get our email newsletter (which of course you should, see below to subscribe!), you're missing all this collective wisdom (and some fab free patterns). Without further ado, find our favorite items for keeping warm here, our most fun with felting here, and the best and fastest hats/headbands here. Magic Happens...on and off a loom!

The Magic Happens class offers a sleight of hand -- the weaving of a scarf with differential shrinkage using alpaca/wool and bamboo. The method is known as Cram and Space. The result is a scarf with enchantingly framed felted squares throughout! This 5 session class begins November 15 and will be taught by Margaret Russell. For more information, see our classes page.

A Luxurious Road to China

There are a lot of reasons to love Road to China Light, our lovely new sport weight yarn. The colors are gorgeous and subtly variegated, the feel is delightfully soft and the pattern support -- in a new book,Vintage Modern Knits -- is amazing. But really, what we like best is being able to say we're knitting with camel. Yes, it's true, Road to China is a sumptuous blend of baby alpaca, cashmere, silk and our friend the camel. Skeins are 159 yards and the possibilities are endless. Betsy is making the Yvette Roositud Hat (link takes you the Ravelry page) from Vintage Modern Knits, but really, there's nothing we don't want to make...with camel!

Fiber Revival is this Saturday!

Join us this Saturday for one of our favorite local fiber events -- Fiber Revival at the Spencer-Peirce Little Farm in Newbury, MA (right off of 1A). The Revival runs from 9-4 and you'll see everything from weaving and knitting to spinning and felting. We'll be there with loads of weaving equipment and books (and don't miss some special Revival-only sale prices!) Get all the Fiber Revival information here.
